Gout sufferer here. Meat is ok, it just needs to be in moderation. I’m a big-time carnivore, but I’ve learned to eat a small amount of meat when it’s at the table. Avoid organ meats.
It IS difficult to prepare a meal of substance when one is diabetic and needs to watch out for gout. You need to stay away from pasta and bread, 2 things that make a meal hearty. Gravy makes a meal hearty, gotta stay away from that.
You can do potatoes and sour cream, berries, onions, carrots, cottage cheese. Real fruit juice is ok for a gout, but I don’t know if it’s bad for a diabetic.
Flour tortillas can be used for the bread. Bread is ok, just look for one that has whole wheat and doesn’t have high fructose corn syrup in the first 4 ingredients.
Salads are hardly a meal of substance, but… you can put fruit in them, carrots, a nice dressing made of sour cream and lemon.
For gout, two things: help the body get rid of uric acid, and take anti-inflammatories for the pain.
Google on these things: "gout nettle", "gout food". Good luck to you and your man!
I don’t know much about gout, but my brother is diabetic.
-Try to steer clear of a lot of carbohydrates (like bread, rice, pasta). Aim for one per meal.
-Meat has NO carbs, as long as it isn’t breaded
-vegetables are usually free of carbs or fairly low in them.
I hope I helped a little bit!

Broiled or grilled chicken breast, with brown rice and stir fry vegs…such as some green beans, corn, onions all will go well with the rice. Now as for dessert, how about a nice lemon…orange or lime sorbet…no fat and low in sugars.
Dizz hope all this helped.

My husband is diabetic. You can make anything that you would normally make! Just don’t add sugar (use Splenda) and limit the catbs, since carbs raise blood sugar. Remember that peas, legumes, corn, potatoes are all a starch/carb and not to be considered a vegetable. We’ve also found that add some tofu (to sauces, chili, soup) will lower his blood sugar (sometimes as much as 30 pts) after a meal, so it’s a good addition when you make pasta. … Try substituting spaghetti squash for pasta; al dente cauliflower in your regular potato salad recipe; mashed cauliflower instead of potatoes…. You can use Splenda in nearly any cake or cookie recipe, as a substitute for sugar. Or, there are alot of great sugar-free ice creams in the grocery store; and sugar-free pies, cakes & cookies

Go to howIcuredmygout.com and eforum health. No citrus fruits or juices, no wheat or yeast products. Some vegetables aggravate. Good information on these sites regarding what foods allowed and to avoid. I really liked the baking soda trial with patient testimonials on the effectiveness of it. I am diabetic and basically all I avoid is the sugar and wheat and white flour products.

Looks like you’ve got it covered so I just want to say that I wish you and the hard working man all the best. My prayers are with you.
Gout is a type of arthritis, I do know that and the first thing that came to mind was cutting back on red meat. Hope he likes white meat and veggies!
God bless you D; I hope you have found what you’re looking for.

Hi dizz here is one of my favourites . I make this when my best friend with diabetes comes for dinner. She loves it. I am pretty sure it would be alright for gout. But check first.
Roast Chicken with Peppers
4 skinless chicken breasts
3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
1 1/2 teaspoons dried rosemary, crushed
1 tablespoon lemon juice ( you may want to substitute for Italian salad dressing because of the gout)
1 medium onion
salt and pepper to taste.
3 Bell peppers 1 red 1 yellow and 1 green
1. Preheat oven to 375F. Rinse chicken in cold water, pat dry with paper towels. Place in a shallow roasting pan.
2. Combine 2 tablespoons oil, rosemary and lemon juice, (or Italian salad dressing) brush over chicken and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
3. Cut bell peppers lenght wise into 1/2 inch strips. Slice onion into thin wedges. Toss vegetables with remaining oil, salt and pepper. Spoon veggies around chicken and roast around chicken. Roast until veggies are tender and chicken is no loner pink and golden brown about 40 minutes. Serve chicken with veggies and pan juices I also serve mashed potatoes with this.
I sure hope you enjoy this it is one of my favourites.
Let me know if you try this and if you liked it.
